Beer

I have a dream.  Well, not so much a dream, as a vision.  Well, not so much a vision, as a hazy outline of something way in the future which may or may not come to pass.  Does that count as a dream, or a vision?  Probably not.  But if it does, then that’s what I’m having.  And handily enough, that what the little dude in the picture above seems like he’s having too.

Enough of this nonsense already – what am I talking about?  As well you might ask!  In actual fact, I’m talking about recording every beer I will drink in 2009.  Not only recording every beer, but every brewery, every location bought from (pub or off licence), every price paid – and perhaps evern some potentially drunken ramblings about each tasty pint.  Sound stupid?  It is!  How could this possibly work?   By very definition, recording every beer I drink in 2009 will be very stupid, if not to prove to the world just how much I actually drink (or, to be honest, my long-suffering girlfriend), but more to show how crap my typing gets when I’m a little bit jaked.  Yes, ale fans, this can only end in disaster.  But’s it a disaster I hope to share with you.  After all, I love you man – and all that stuff.

How will this work?  To be honest, I don’t know.  I’ve setup this Wordpress blog site thing to try and help me through it.  It seems to be easy enough to post via the web, but I’ve still to see if it is possible to post directly from my mobile phone.  And by directly from my mobile phone, I mean directly from the pub.  Imagine the possibilties!  On second hand, don’t…

Anyway,  I’ve already had some thoughts on the beers I have had since the New Year, and I hope to share them with you as I get more accustomed with this setup.  Until then – Slainté!

My latest beer...

Manx Bitter

Another pint in the Bow Bar, another beer from far away – Isle of Mann this time, in the form of this pleasant bitter. Initial taste reveals background melon flavours, followed by the expected bitterness, and the somewhat less expected cigar notes. The aftertaste is long and dry, with a lingering bitterness detectable long after in the rear of the mouth.
